Synopsis: The second sequel to the $100 million hit, "Resident Evil: Extinction" is again based on the wildly popular video game series and picks up where the last film left off. Alice (Milla Jovovich), now in hiding in the Nevada desert, once again joins forces with Carlos Oliveira (Oded Fehr) and L.J. (Mike Epps), along with new survivors Claire (Ali Larter), K-Mart (Spencer Locke ) and Nurse Betty (Ashanti) to try to eliminate the deadly virus that threatens to make every human being undead... and to seek justice. Since being captured by the Umbrella Corporation, Alice has been subjected to biogenic experimentation and becomes genetically altered, with super-human strengths, senses and dexterity. These skills, and more, will be needed if anyone is to remain alive.
After the events of Resident Evil: Apocalypse, the Umbrella Corporation, despite the nuclear destruction of Raccoon City, discovered the T-Virus, their greatest bio-organic weapon which had the power to reanimate the dead as zombies, had escaped containment. Umbrella desperately tries to stop the T-Virus from turning the entire world's population into the undead, but after a series of T-Virus outbreaks over the space of 3-5 years, the human race is on the verge of extinction.
Alice (Milla Jovovich), Umbrella's greatest Bio-Organic Weapon turned freedom fighter, is now alone in the desert wastelands of the remains of the United States, trying desperately to keep what people who are left alive and save them from the undead legions (which now includes animals), with the super-human strength and psychokinetic abilities she gained from her brief imprisonment by Umbrella. However, Alice not only has to contend with the zombie armies, but also psychotic-driven survivors and ultimately Umbrella itself, which seeks to develop a permanent cure/vaccine to the T-Virus to save what's left of humanity.
Alice, however, is able to escape and is now hiding in the Nevada desert, near the ruins of Las Vegas. Alice rejoins fellow Raccoon survivors Carlos Oliveira (Oded Fehr) and L.J. (Mike Epps), and also meets new survivors Claire Redfield (Ali Larter), K-Mart (Spencer Locke) and Nurse Betty (Ashanti). Alice finds a notebook during her travels with the survivor convoy, which tells of a place to the north, near Alaska, without infection (possibly due to its cold temperature). Believing in any chance for sanctuary, Alice and the others begin searching for means to reach this so-called sanctuary, which will drive them to face Umbrella once again (as only they have the advanced vehicles, computers and technology necessary for the survivors to escape).
Failing to capture Alice, Umbrella, at the behest of Umbrella Chairman Albert Wesker, resorts to creating clones of Alice (from DNA they extracted during her brief imprisonment), but only a small minority of them have the necessary blood factors for the serum that Sam Isaacs needs. However, Isaacs is not concerned with saving humanity, but rather completing his perverted research into the "Ultimate: Lifeform", which was shut down many years earlier. Isaacs is able to secure additional resources for his research, but when Wesker finds out, he orders Isaacs to be murdered, but he narrowly escapes with his life.
Isaacs uses the serum he made from his research on himself, turning himself into the "Ultimate Lifeform": Tyrant. Isaacs/Tyrant then begins searching for Alice to get the remaining materials he needs for the antidote, and Alice will be forced to fight him, and other powerful foes, if their plan to save humanity is to succeed and anyone is to remain alive.

Screenwriters Frost and Don Payne were hired to write the screenplay Payne has said the film is based upon Fantastic Four #48, in which Galactus also makes an appearance, as well as issues 57-60 in which Doom steals the Surfer's power. DAY WATCH (DNEVNOI DOZOR)
Director: Timur Bekmambetov
Writer: Timur Bekmambetov
Starring: Konstantin Khabensky, Aleksei Chadov, Yuri Kutsenko, Igor Lifanov, Sergei Lukyanenko, Rimma Markova, Vladimir Menshov, Nikolai Olyalin, Mariya Poroshina, Galina Tyunina, Viktor Verzhbitsky, Valeri Zolotukhin
Studio: Fox Searchlight Pictures
Genre: Action, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Thriller
Official Site: www.foxsearchlight.com/daywatch
Rating: R for violence
Runtime: 140 minutes
Synopsis: It is New Year's Eve of 2006, more than one year after the events of Night Watch. Anton Gorodetsky, the protagonist of the first film, finds himself in the middle of an approaching conflict between the Light and Dark Others, who are still bound with an uneasy truce. Anton is still a Night Watch operative, now working with his trainee and romantic interest, Svetlana (the healer from the first film, now a Light Other). As his son Yegor has now become a Dark Other, Anton is forced to secretly destroy evidence of Yegor's attacks on normal people, which violate the treaty, leaving the Night Watch unable to sentence Yegor.
To redeem for his previous mistake, an attempt to use a witch's service to kill the unborn Yegor (shown in the beginning of the first film), Anton seeks the legendary Chalk of Fate, a magical chalk that could rewrite history, which was once Tamerlane's property and one of the main reasons for his numerous military successes.
Meanwhile, Zavulon, the leader of the Dark Others and their Day Watch, is waiting for Yegor's birthday. At the birthday, Yegor would become a Great Other and acquire the power that would allow the Dark Others to break the treaty (which is only supported because the Others fear that the two sides will destroy each other). Being grateful to Anton for his covering of Yegor doesn't stop the Day Watch from trying to frame Anton and get him sentenced for murder. They succeed, despite the efforts made by Boris Ivanovich Geser (the head of the Night Watch) to protect Anton from the Dark Others by switching his body with that of Olga the sorceress (in this form, his relationship with Svetlana suddenly gains a boost, as Svetlana confesses to the false Olga that she actually loves Anton).
Finally Anton gets hold of the Chalk of Fate, but it is soon stolen by Yegor. Zavulon cannot use or even touch the Chalk (it would be a direct violation of the treaty), and it ends up being used by Alisa Donnikova, Zavulon's minion, for her personal desires. Yegor's birthday party begins soon after that; the guests are Dark Others (some of them are Russian pop stars), although Anton makes his way to the party as Yegor's father and pretends to be drunk to expose the real committer of the murder he has been charged with - his neighbor vampire, Kostia's father. He is unable, however, to avert a disaster: as Svetlana rushes to the party to find Anton, she pushes Yegor and accidentally spills his blood, prompting Zavulon to break the treaty.
Yegor, now a Great Other, unleashes an apocalypse upon Moscow. The city is nearly destroyed, starting with the Ostankino Tower; a fierce battle between the Light and Dark Others follows, with few survivors on each side. One of them, however, is Anton, who manages to reclaim the Chalk of Fate from Alisa and runs through the ruins of Moscow to the house where he, thirteen years ago, made his visit to the witch the visit that caused the entire sequence of events, starting Anton's own initiation into the Night Watch. Anton writes "NO" on a wall in this house; Moscow reverts to normal, and time is thrown back to 1992.
In the epilogue, as a result of the Chalk's influence, Anton rethinks his intent to kill his unborn child and decides not to strike a deal with the witch. He walks out of the house, into the street, where he meets Svetlana, and where Zavulon and Geser are sitting on a bench, without any signs of hostility, wondering whether Anton will recognize her or not. Eventually Geser's prediction that he will recognize her comes true, and the film ends with Anton and Svetlana walking together under an umbrella down the street and away.
Featuring the cinematic vision of cutting-edge Director/Writer Timur Bekmambetov, DAY WATCH (DNEVNOI DOZOR) is based on the novel by Sergei Lukyanenko and Vladimir Vasiliev. When the previous installment, NIGHT WATCH (NOCHNOI DOZOR), was released in its native Russia in July 2004, it became an instant smash hit breaking all film gross records in post-Soviet history. Made for a mere $4 million, the film out-grossed both LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING and SPIDERMAN 2 at the Russian box office, eventually taking in more than $16 million. DAY WATCH (DNEVNOI DOZOR) has done even better, grossing over $30 million.
A dazzling mix of state-of-the-art visual effects, amazing action sequences, and nail-biting horror set in contemporary Moscow, DAY WATCH (DNEVNOI DOZOR) revolves around the conflict and balance maintained between the forces of light and darkness -- the result of a medieval truce between the opposing sides. This ancient war between the forces of Light and Darkness is reaching a tragic outcome. Each side has gained a powerful Great Other, who are headed for a clash, and Anton Gorodetsky is once again caught up in the midst of this conflict. On one side is Anton's son, Egor, who has joined the ranks of the Dark Others, while Anton's love interest Svetlana is the hope of the Light. But that's just the beginning of his troubles: Anton is on the run after having been accused of murder. Things are getting worse, and only the ancient Chalk of Fate can save the day. The problem is the magical Chalk was lost hundreds of years ago...
DAY WATCH (DNEVNOI DOZOR) stars Konstantin Khabensky, Maria Poroshina, Vladimir Menshov, Galina Tyunina, Victor Verzhbitskiy, Zhanna Friske, Dima Martynov, Valeriy Zolotukhin and Aleksey Chadov. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov from a screenplay by Bekmambetov, Sergei Lukyanenko and Alexander Talal, DAY WATCH (DNEVNOI DOZOR) was produced by Konstantin Ernst, the General Director of Channel One Russia, Russia's biggest and most successful television network, and Anatoly Maximov, Deputy General Director. The behind-the-scenes creative team includes Director of Photography Sergei Trofimov, Art Directors Valery Victorov and Mukhtar Mirzakeyev, Editor Dmitri Kiselev and Costume Designer Varia Avdiushko. The film's music is composed by Yuri Poteyenko.
Sergei Lukyanenko and Vladimir Vasiliev's novel Day Watch -- and its prequel Night Watch and sequel Dusk Watch -- marked a watershed in Russian literature. The book's story of supernatural battles breaking out on the frenetic, everyday streets of modern Moscow struck a resonant chord with a whole new crowd -- young Russian readers, fantasy fans and Internet users -- who turned them into instant hip, cult classics, selling 500,000 copies. Since the Russian release of the feature films DAY WATCH (DNEVNOI DOZOR) and NIGHT WATCH (NOCHNOI DOZOR), the trilogy has gone on to sell another 2.5 million copies.

Joining Snyder behind the scenes were director of photography Larry Fong, production designer James Bissell, editor William Hoy, costume designer Michael Wilkinson, and visual effects supervisor Chris Watts. The music is by Tyler Bates. Warner Bros Records is distributing the score soundtrack album, comprised entirely of Bates' music, with the film's March 9th theatrical release.
